Marcella A. "Marcie" McWard, 94, of Normal, died at 4:21 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. Her funeral will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, (12-21-13) at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal with Rev. Daniel Gifford officiating. Entombment will be in East Lawn Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm, Friday, (12-20-13) at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington with a prayer service at 6:45 pm. Memorials may be made to the Life Teen Program at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal, IL.
Marcie was born on March 5, 1919 in Springfield, the daughter of Alexander and Mary ONeil McCraner. She married Donald E. McWard on January 9, 1949 during a mountain blizzard in Evergreen, Colorado. He died on October 31, 2010. She is survived by two sons, Daniel (Kathleen) McWard of Laguna Niguel, CA and Patrick McWard of Chicago; three grandchildren, Terry of Laguna Niguel, CA and Kayla and Connor, both of Chicago, whom she dearly loved. She was preceded in death by seven siblings, Libby, Fritz, Mary, Rita, Johnny, Loretta and Alex. Marcie’s husband Don managed the McLean County Service Company and she enjoyed supporting him in his position. She devoted her life to her children, taking them to school and volunteering. Marcie put thousands of miles on the family car getting her boys to and from their numerous activities from Hudson to Bloomington. After retirement, Marcie and Don enjoyed traveling and their favorite place to go was Ireland, the land of their heritage. Marcie loved all things Irish. She also enjoyed knitting, golf, was a lifelong Chicago White Sox fan and the beloved family dog, Pepper. Marcie and Don were charter members Epiphany Catholic Church in Normal.
